This 100% cotton jacquard is woven in a small check of mid denim blue and pale greyish white, each square showing its fine diagonal twill line, and running across the rows are soft tufts of loose blue fringing that give the surface a shaggy, slightly undone look. At 340gsm it is a substantial, firm cloth with plenty of body. It holds its shape rather than draping, and there is no stretch. Turn it over and the reverse is a smooth tonal blue check, much calmer than the face.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe fringing is what makes it. It catches the light and moves as you do, so a simple jacket shape suddenly looks like something from a designer rail. Be warned that those cut threads will shed a little as you work, so keep the lint roller handy and finish your seams well, as the cut edges will fray. At 160cm wide it cuts economically, and it is happy in a 30°C machine wash, though skip the tumble dryer and press on a low heat so you don't flatten the texture.
