Cashmerette is a US pattern house founded by Jenny Rushmore, drafting for curvy and plus-size bodies from the start rather than grading up from a straight-size block. Patterns come with cup size options from C to H across sizes 0 to 32, which means the full bust adjustment most people have to work out for themselves is already built in. The fit is the whole point of the brand.

Most commercial sewing patterns are drafted for a B cup, which is why so much home sewing starts with a full bust adjustment before a stitch is sewn. Cashmerette's answer was to draft the cup sizes in, so you choose your size from your high bust and hip measurements and then pick the cup that matches. It removes the single most common fitting alteration, and for a lot of people it's the difference between a garment that fits and a garment that gets abandoned.

Beyond the cup sizing, the drafting takes account of proportions that change with size rather than simply scaling everything: armhole depth, shoulder slope, waist placement. The instructions are thorough and pitched at someone learning, and the brand publishes a lot of free fitting guidance alongside the patterns.

Like several inclusive-size brands, Cashmerette splits its range in two so each block is drafted properly rather than stretched. Each pattern is therefore sold in the size range that covers your measurements, and it's worth checking which one you need before ordering.

Choosing your size

Measure your high bust, full bust, waist and hip, then read the chart on the individual pattern page. The high bust decides the size and the difference between high and full bust decides the cup. Getting those two right is what makes the pattern work as intended, so it's worth doing properly with a tape measure and someone to help rather than guessing.

How do I choose my Cashmerette cup size?

Measure your high bust, just under the arms and above the full bust, then measure your full bust. The difference between the two decides your cup. The chart on each pattern page sets out which measurement gap corresponds to which cup, from C through to H.

Are Cashmerette patterns suitable for beginners?
