Description
Beautifully textured without being heavy or stiff, this blue marl furnishing fabric has a lovely combination of softness and character. Woven from 100% polyester, it brings together yarns in varying shades of denim blue, slate and soft teal, creating a rich, gently mottled colour that has far more depth than a plain blue. One side has a rugged, tweedy texture with a slightly rustic appearance, while the reverse has a softer, lightly brushed finish. At 345gsm, it has a reassuringly substantial feel but remains surprisingly supple, with a lovely drape.
What makes this cloth particularly appealing is how easily it lends itself to home furnishings. Think generously sized scatter cushions, beautifully textured throws, window seat cushions, decorative bed runners, draught excluders and fabric-covered storage boxes. The two contrasting surfaces give you plenty of scope to play with texture, while the wonderful mix of blues works equally well with natural woods, cream, charcoal and warm neutrals. It has that relaxed, lived-in country-house feel without being remotely old-fashioned.
Please note that this fabric is not fire retardant, so it is intended for decorative furnishing projects rather than upholstery applications requiring fire safety compliance.

Care & washing
Allow 2-10% shrinkage to be on the safe side. Wash the fabric before making up, in the same way you'll wash the finished make, drying methods included, so it settles once rather than after it's sewn.
