Orchid pink and burnished gold trade places across this woven jacquard, with swirling florals, vines and medallions around 8cm across built into the weave rather than printed. It has a smooth, fluid handle and falls into soft folds.

The viscose and silk blend gives a cool, silky feel against the skin, ideal for lining a jacket or coat where you'll catch a flash of gold every time it opens. It's far too pretty to hide away, though, and makes a lovely blouse or evening dress.

As a lining, this turns a plain tailored piece into something rather special. Try it inside The Assembly Line Blazer or the Tessuti Soho Coat, where the silky surface helps sleeves slip on easily and the pink and gold makes a cheerful surprise against charcoal, navy or camel.

On its own, keep to simple shapes that let the jacquard do the talking: the Tessuti Athina Top, a bias-cut skirt or a slip dress for parties and weddings. The motifs are large and scattered, so lay your pattern pieces out with care to place the medallions where you want them. Viscose blends like this can fray, so French seams or overlocked edges are worth the effort.
