Description
Jet black, beautifully fine and with a handle that feels almost like silk, this exceptional German-made worsted wool flannel is a rather special piece of cloth. Originally produced for Laura Ashley, it combines 98% wool with a small amount of Lycra for a little extra comfort and flexibility. The fine twill weave gives it a smooth, refined surface, while the flannel finish adds a subtle softness without the bulk or fuzziness of a traditional heavy wool flannel. At 216gsm, it is surprisingly lightweight for a wool suiting, with an elegant drape and a beautifully clean finish.
This is proper dressmaking wool for garments that deserve something special. Think beautifully tailored trousers, sharp blazers, elegant dresses, pencil skirts, waistcoats and complete suits. The deep, true black makes it wonderfully versatile, whether you're after immaculate workwear, an understated evening outfit or something rather more dramatic. With its German manufacture, Laura Ashley heritage and exceptionally fine handle, this is a lovely example of how luxurious wool can be without being heavy.

Care & washing
Allow 2-10% shrinkage to be on the safe side. Wash the fabric before making up, in the same way you'll wash the finished make, drying methods included, so it settles once rather than after it's sewn.
