Description
Somewhere between mushroom and dove grey, with a faint rosy warmth that shows in daylight, this taupe is the sort of neutral that never looks flat. The surface is covered in fine wavy ribs running down the length, a soft ripple that gives the cloth a gently shifting, almost watery look, while the reverse is paler and smoother with light streaks across it. It's a 150cm wide woven at 110gsm: light, cool and silky in the hand, with a fluid drape that skims rather than stands away.
The mix of 47% rayon, 36% Tencel and 17% nylon brings the slippery smoothness of cellulose fibres, with the nylon adding a little body. Pale colours are honest about a light cloth, so hold it up to the light before you cut: depending on the garment, you may want a slip or a lining underneath. In taupe the texture really comes into its own, picking up soft shadows in every ridge, and it sits happily alongside cream, chocolate, soft pink or charcoal. There's no stretch, so allow a little ease.
